The Joy of Teaching!

Today I was teaching a guided reading group (a group of 2-6 students who are at about the same level in their reading ability). I just had 2 students, they are ones who tend to sruggle with reading a little bit, and somtimes aren't very motivated to read during guided reading group. We read a Clifford book today and they absolutely loved it! I went to take the books away a few minutes before sending them back to their class so that we could discuss what they had read. They begged me not to take their books away because they wanted to keep reading! It was time for recess and neither of them cared, they were sitting there talking to me telling me about how the book reminded them of certain experiences from their own life. It is in these moments that I love teaching more than anything else. To have two student who normally don't like to read begging me to let them read more is such a rewarding experience. Teaching truly is a joy! The students bring smiles to my face every day. It's hard to leave school without being hugged by at least 10 different kids during the day - who wouldn't love that? I sure do!

Livin, learnin, and lovin being a teacher!
