So...today at work we had a relatively busy day. My dad and I were working together and we kept busy for the eight hours we were there. If it wasn't the customers it was checking in shoes, or ordering shoes, and answering phones. Some days I get customers that are impossible!!! They have difficult feet to fit and nothing fits right, today was not one of those days however. Today I had two customers that I only had to try one pair of shoes on. They loved them right of the bat an walked out the door smiling. The other customer I had was so amazed by the runners knot that I put on his shoes, he was amazed that I could make his heel stop slipping, and he loved the inserts I put in his shoes. He left with a pair of shoes on order, a pair of inserts in his shoes and another pair on order. He too left smiling and happy.
It is days like today, when you are able to make people happy, that this job is worth it. I just love to make people happy!!! When it comes down to it, it's not all about me, it's about what I've done to help and serve those around me that really matters. I am here to be a tool in the Lord's hand in helping and serving those around me whom He is unable to personally serve at this time. It is so easy to make a batch of cookies and share them with a neighbor. It is so easy to do the dishes when someone else didn't have the time in their day to do them. It is so easy to send a note in the mail to someone just to let them know you care (one of my personnel favorites). It is so easy to smile at someone or give them a hug. I could stand to improve at many of these things, if not all of them. Lucky for me, that's why we are here on earth, to live and to learn, to love those round us. I am living, I am learning and I am grateful that with each new day comes a new opportunity to reach out a little further and to love those around me a little more.
