Changes

I can't believe that winter semester is almost over! Somehow the time has flown!

This past semester I have been in the process of applying for an internship. Getting the internship would mean that I would take all my classes scheduled for fall during the spring and summer, and then beginning in the fall I would be teaching my own class for the year! Last Wednesday I had my interviews for the internship. I had two interviews in a row. In both rooms I sat at a desk at the front of the room. There as u shape of about 20 people sitting in front of me. One of them asked me questions while the est listened and took down notes. The interviews went well, and I got a job as an intern! I will be a teacher at Spanish Oaks Elementary School beginning in the fall! I do not know what grade level yet, but I should be finding out shortly.

I spent the month of March at Spanish Oaks in a first grade classroom. I got a lot of opportunities to watch the teacher whose class I was in, and to learn from her. I also got lots of opportunities to teach lessons and to carry out daily routines in the classroom. I loved the school, and I am excited to be going back! I am excited that I will get to see some of my little first grades again. I was only there for a month, but I fell in love with them!

There are some days when I wonder how I can be a teacher with responsibility for my own class in just four months, but more often than not I am excited. This year as I have been taking all classes for my major (Elementary Education) and have had an opportunity to work with students in the schools, I have come to realize that I am becoming a teacher for a reason. Teaching is a talent that I have. I look forward to the opportunities that I will have as an intern to continue to learn and grow as a teacher. I know that there will be things that will be hard, and there will be times when I cry, but I also know that teaching is something that I have been called to do and so I will put my best effort into it! I know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows and loves me. I know that he is aware of the things that are going on in my life. I know that I have a savior, Jesus Christ, and that because of the sacrifice that he made, that I am never alone. What a great comfort that is to me in these exciting times of change in my life.

Now if I could just find a place to live next year, that would be great : )
